Moving Your Business To Raleigh

As you will see from reading the economy and business sections of our website, there are plenty of jobs to be had in Raleigh, North Carolina, particularly in the technology, health care, and education sectors. If your method of supporting yourself is more along the lines of dealing in commercial properties in Ontario then you'd probably be more interested in the small business side of things so you can find out whether it would be viable to move your business. For those who are thinking of moving a business to Raleigh, here are some things to consider.

Registration

You know from when you set up your existing business that in order to open a business account, you must first register as a business and get a business number. With a move to Raleigh, you would have to repeat this process all over again, even if you are keeping your existing accounts. The name wedding catering Burlington may have been appropriate when you were living in Ontario, but you'll have to reconsider it if you move. Other reasons to register include making sure your business name is not already in use in Raleigh.

Clientele

Setting up your existing business took a lot of legwork because you had to get the word out to potential clients and build up a client base that you could rely on. Unless you're an internet business or an international company like the one Dennis Gartman runs, you won't be able to serve your old clients anymore. You'll have to start building your reputation all over again unless you have contacts in the city. Advertising is always a good way to start this process, particularly in local papers or on local TV channels.

Employees

A new commercial mortgage isn't the only thing you'll be getting if you move your business to Raleigh. Your existing staff will have to be let go and a new one hired when you get to Raleigh unless your employees are dedicated enough to move to North Carolina with you. Barring that, make sure you budget for severance pay and remember to complete their records of employment for tax purposes. Once you arrive, local job banks and the economic development council will be happy to help you find some Raleigh workers.

Location

Finding your location in Ontario was easy enough because you were familiar with the area. All you had to do was pick a neighborhood, visit Mortgage Calculator Toronto for an estimate, and you were set. Once you move to Raleigh, you'll want to take some time to explore the neighborhoods and decide which one is the best fit for your business. For instance, Glenwood South would be a good choice for a restaurant or a night club but not a day care.
